The cooling water used in the diesel generator should be kept clean and free from corrosive chlorides, sulphides and acidic chemicals. The cooling water should be kept in low alkalinity with PH value of about 8.5-10.5. In general, drinking water can be used directly and should be treated as follows:
1、 Antirust
To prevent scaling, clogging and corrosion of the cooling system, additives such as Cummins's DCA4 or substitutes should be used. Cooling water should also be added as appropriate antifreeze. Antifreeze combined with additive DCA4 can obtain better anti-embroidery and anti-pitting protection effect.
2、Processing method
(1)Adding the required water into the mixing container, and dissolving the required DCA4;
(2)If necessary, then add antifreeze fully mixed;
(3)Add the mixed coolant to the cooling system and screw the tank cover.
3、Protection in cold weather
In the case that the coolant may freeze, antifreeze additive should be used to avoid the damage to the unit caused by the coolant freezing. Recommended ge: 50% antifreeze/50% water mixture. It is recommended to increase the dose of DCA4 in special cases. Antifreeze with low silicate content is recommended.
4、Warm up the engine
It is recommended to use the heating device of temperature control immersion cooling system (using electricity) to keep the temperature of cooling water in cold weather.
